KITING FOR A CURE

The Creator, The Name, and The Purpose

Throughout my life, I have always loved to create and fly kites. My interest began down the shore, when I was a child: I was fascinated by the ascending kites I saw, every weekend, as I was driven down the beach boulevard. As my affinity for kiting grew, I began to fly kites on my own near Point Pleasant, NJ, and I sought out kite events nearby. 

Before I had ever attended my first kiting event, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer- when I was around the age of three. Coughs and runny noses do not mix well with chemotherapy patients, so I was taken out of preschool to limit my mom's exposure to pathogens; I traded in my recess and circle-time at school for story time and naps beside my mom. Even as a toddler, I was patient and understanding of my mother's fatigue and chronic pain, willingly taking naps when she was tired and sitting still on her bed when we read together.

These early experiences, coupled with the recent loss of my grandma, formed the basis of my desire to act now. 

My expressed passion for kiting and infinite sympathy for victims of cancer has manifested itself in the creation of Kiting For A Cure. The aforementioned name represents an organization that repurposes a fun, colorful, and exhilarating hobby to raise money and inspire others to participate in the battle against cancer- whether you donate, sponsor and/or participate in an upcoming event, please share this website link with others.
